You Are the Dawn Album Project-Songs to Mary Magdalene

Soprano and ministry leader Mary Bonhag pulls together a variety of collaborators including Ruth Cunningham (Anonymous 4) for this project celebrating the Divine Feminine as musically expressed through Mary Magdalene, a most important figure of early Christianity. Named "Apostle to the Apostles” by the Catholic Church after over a century of maligned representation, Mary Magdalene is now finding her rightful place alongside Jesus of Nazareth and being recognized as instrumental in continuing Jesus’ ministry after his crucifixion. A flowering of a deep multi-year study and collaborations, this album seeks to offer healing and beauty to those who listen reminding us all that we all have the Divine within . Medieval and contemporary chant feature prominently, as well as improvised settings of excerpts from The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.
Recording will take place in Vermont in August 2026 and NYC in fall/early winter 2026.
